Opencart is an online store solution that is free to the public. I am an experienced Opencart online store designer. Opencart is recommended for: Small to large businesses who need a modular online store that is simple to setup, (relatively) easy to use and to customize in many ways. It has many low cost extensions and modules as well, due to an active programmer community interacting at Opencart.com. For example, I have designed the wholesale store for TOKYObay of San Francisco that runs with this architecture. I've also developed a few extensions and improvements to Opencart, described below, that are available for download from Opencart.com:
Opencart Extensions by Irene Rowley:
Released July 20, 2011: This extension allows you to add a different picture for the product detail page and pop-up photo, that is larger and more detailed, or cropped or photographed differently, than the small thumbnail pictures shown in category lists, feature lists.
I developed this as a necessary tool for TOKYObay, the online watch and accessories store I designed, that needed to show close-ups of purses and jewelry in the smaller thumbnail sizes, then show the entire item at a different crop, with the chains and the handles on the product detail page. It also works well for stores that need to feature larger, more romantic composed pictures of products, on the product detail pages.
Product Image-Pro handles product images more intuitively and powerfully than basic Opencart. For product control, the product section now has an Image-Pro tab instead of the basic Image tab. This enhanced Image-Pro tab shows all product pictures (both thumbnails and enlargements, as well as "additional" images) together on the same screen. Now you see, compare and edit all the product pictures on one screen. (In standard Opencart you have to move between the "links" and the "image" tab to see them all.) In addition, Image-Pro contains the code from the Opencart module "image filename extension" in order to display image filenames, and to allow you to add or change pictures by image filenames right there.

Advanced Category Banner Images
This extension allows you to add a large category banner image at the top of the OpenCart category pages, where the category heading goes, at a different size than the smaller images in category lists. Also by design, the category banner image replaces the category heading text, so you can combine image and heading as one graphic (in an external image software program) for more sophisticated banners that combine text with graphics. On any categories that do not have images assigned, the category heading text will simply display as text... Resale price $18
Better Customer 'My Account Info' Page
This program code adds key customer details (their company name and address list), to a customer's "edit my account information" page - a natural place they'd want to see it. After making these changes, your customer's company name and their registered addresses are listed on their account editing page, with links to edit the addresses. No longer does a customer need to go to one screen ("edit account") to view and edit their name, and another screen ("address book") to view and edit their company and addresses. I perfected this for one of my Opencart stores, because their customers expected it and asked for it. ... Resale price $12
Personal Customer Greetings and Name in Header
This will allow you to identify customers who are logged in by their first and last name on every page in the Opencart header, as well as to greet them by their first name on the home and "my account" pages...
Note: This module extends the capabilities of Opencart through version 1.4.9.6 . Version 1.5.1 now shows a login name in the header, so I do not plan to update this module beyond v. 1.4.9.6.
